Meter-long pizzas? It's gotta be Farinella's!

Farinella is definitely a staple of Ottawa's food scene as well as a must try for anyone who enjoys genuine, Italian pizza.

Location

Farinella currently holds two beautiful locations in our nation's capital. The first location can be found in Kanata, at 808 March road, Unit#1, Ottawa, ON and the second location is situated in the beautiful community of Little Italy, at 492 Rochester St, Ottawa, ON. Both of these locations provide an equal quality of service. No matter which one location you choose to visit, it is certain that you will enjoy some delicious pizza.

History

Farinella was founded by Cesare and Nina, who grew up in the nation's capital. The source of their inspiration sprouts from their Italian culture, given that they moved from Italy to Canada during the Second World War. Cesare and Nina both grew up in the kitchen and enjoyed every second of their time preparing a variety of dishes and thus, surrounded by their loved ones.

They spent a lot of their summers going back to Italy and visiting their families. As stated on their website, the more that Cesare and Nina went back to Italy and to their loved ones, the more their love and respect for Italian cuisine grew. However, what mesmerized the pair the most was the mentality that most Italians held when it came to cooking. They then decided to move back to Italy in 2013, where Nina learned how to make gelato and Cesare about pizza from the world renowned baker, Gabriele Bonci.

After spending approximately four years in Italy, the pair came to a mutual agreement that it was time to return back to Canada and spread the new knowledge that they had acquired. Thus, this is how Farinella came to be.

Food

Farinella is mainly known for its METER LONG PIZZAS, which no one had yet to see in Ottawa. Some might be under the assumption that this is the only reason that Farinella is well known. However, it is only partially true. Yes, it is not surprising that a meter long pizza could create some sort of a buzz in the foodie scenes of the city, but the restaurant as a whole would not be able to maintain their business if it wasn't for the equally amazing taste of their products. Furthermore, Farinella offers an amazing selection of gelato flavours that are sure to catch your eye.

When it comes to their prices, the restaurant charges around $27 to $41 for their meter-long pizzas. Some might think that this is expensive but these meter long pizzas are estimated too feed up to 4 people. Given this estimate, and if you choose to purchase the most expensive pizza, at $41, and split the bill between 4 people, it would only end up costing $10.25 per person. On the other hand, it is also possible for a customer to purchase half a meter of pizza, as opposed to purchasing the full meter.

The consumer's options do not stop at pizza and gelato, as Farinella also offers some great add-ons, such as Cannolis and Suppli (Cacio e pepe risotto, stuffed with mozzarella, breaded and fried).

Ordering

If you love pizza just as I do, I would strongly recommend ordering from this authentic Italian pizzeria.
