Don’t know what to have for supper? Want something cheap and relatively quick? Look no further, Dreamland Café is here to save the day! 

If you love Italian food as much as I do, Dreamland Café is a must-try in the beautiful area of Little Italy, found in our nation's capital. They offer everything from the classic Italian pasta dishes, chicken parm, Italian meatball sandwiches, and their AMAZING garlic bread! 

Location

The Dreamland Café in Little Italy is located at 262 Preston Street, Ottawa, ON and opened in May of 2018. It offers take-out and a beautiful patio dine in experience. However, it is recommended that if you want to dine in to book a reservation as they have limited spots available. You can also decide to have it delivered to your house by using Uber Eats. 

History

It opened its first location in May of 2017, in the middle of downtown on Laurier Ave. Dreamland is a place that is filled with amazing bright colours, warmth and an amazing smell from inside as well as outside of the restaurant. The atmosphere of the restaurant gives you an amazing experience, but the food is what, personally, makes me go back every time. 

The locations are owned by two sisters Marlo (23) and Coco De Leo (24), they are both Ottawa natives and bring elevated classics Italian family recipes. The recipes that are being used were handed down to them by their nonna, and that is how you know these dishes will be good and truly Italian. They decided to open the restaurants when they were 19 and 20. Coco, at the young age of 16 and after working in an Italian style restaurant, had decided that she wanted to open a restaurant of her own one day. At the same time, Marlo was working as a hostess and enhancing her front-end skills. Such experience in these restaurants allowed them to open their first Dreamland Café location and quickly, a year later, open a 2nd location in the heart of Little Italy. Marlo and Coco are not your average business owners, given that they do not hold any other outstanding commitments and are thus able to focus on their passion for food. 

Food

Some of their outstanding dishes, but only to name a few, are their Spaghetti and Meatballs, Carbonara, Pesto Mac n’ Cheese, and my personal favorite, the Creamy Pesto! Not only do they offer amazing food but they also offer amazing drinks such as craft cocktails, vintage wine, etc. This is an ideal restaurant if you are in or around Little Italy.  

Its pricing is very reasonable, with $1 for 2 big slices of their amazing garlic bread and the pasta dish prices ranging from $13 to $16. This is a perfect place to get a nice and filling meal for just under $20. Mark my words, if you ever decide that you want to give Dreamland Café a try, you will not regret it!
